Nuttscorner Oval roars back into action on Tuesday December 27th with our annual Christmas Holiday meeting. As always the Cirrus Plastics-backed event features the Big Van Bangers and the Reliant Robins Irish Championship, as well as racing from the 2.0 Hot Rods, Lightning Rods, ProStocks and Junior Productions.
Almost 20 of the Big Van Bangers have booked in for the meeting, which should give us superb entertainment. Local ace ‘Big’ Dave Haugh has been the expert in the vans over recent years and will be one to look out for, as will the usual suspects of Steven Reynolds, Stevo McGrath and Davy Patton.
Points Champion Billy McClean starts on pole position for the Robins Irish Championship, but will face stiff opposition from defending champion and fellow front row starter Rab Stewart. Ian and Steven Bolton sit ominously on row two and could well have a say, whilst others who can’t be ruled out are Jimmy Beattie, Anthony McIvor, Darren Bevan and Lee Davison. It’s the three wheelers biggest race of the year and should be a real Christmas Cracker!
In the other classes, the 2.0 Hot Rods and Lightning Rods will be chasing all important World Championship qualifying points, and they, along with the ProStocks and Junior Productions, should provide some great racing.
We are pleased to have a number of visiting drivers with us for the meeting, with former ProStocks World Cup winner Ally McDonald travelling over from Scotland, Ade Clifton from England in the Van Bangers and Ken Burke from Tipperary in the Lightning Rods.
It is sure to be a meeting not to be missed, with the first race roaring off the grid at 2pm.
